According to this
height predictor, Ruby will be 5'10" by the time she's 18, towering over her mom and within a foot of her dad. The old wives say that you double your height at age 2 to give your adult height, which would make her 6'1". Either way, she's going to be tall and for that she's lucky, I think. She may even be able to fulfill her dad's dream of becoming star point guard for the Detroit Shock.
But Ruby is somewhat unlucky, too, at least for now. I finally got the dreaded Time Out chair and timer in place, and Ruby was just naughty enough to put it to good use twice last night. Until now, we had been using her crib as a TO spot, but I didn't like this system too much. I'd heard about the Time Out chair, and that kids would just stay there when put in it, but I couldn't really believe Ruby would. But I do now! On her first TO last night, she had to be replaced twice but stayed for the remaining 2 minutes without escape. The second time she didn't even try to get up, just cried and whimpered, while Daran and I hid around the corner stifling giggles and trying to get in a few peeks. I got a digital kitchen timer (to signal the end of the Time Out) for this purpose as I'd heard that timers are a toddler's parent's best friend - impersonal yet definite. I like it!

Can you believe this sweet child would ever need a Time Out?
